Find your way around Investments
What the Overview shows, which tab each account lands in, and how to make a section open on the tab you use most.
Investments
Open Investments. The section opens on the Overview.
The Overview
The Overview adds up every investment account you have, on any plan.
- Total investments is the same total your dashboard shows.
- Change in period follows the date menu at the top right.
- The Taxable, Pre-tax and Tax-free cards split the total by how each account is taxed.
- What it is invested in shows a donut of stocks, bonds, cash and the rest.
- Performance draws your investments over time. Choose By type, By tax or Total.
Below the charts, your accounts are grouped by what they are for. Drag a group to reorder it, or select its header to collapse it.
The tabs
Each investment account appears in one tab, based on its type.
| Tab | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Stocks & Funds | Brokerage and crypto accounts, one row per holding |
| Retirement | 401(k), IRA, Roth IRA and other retirement plans, one row per plan |
| Education | 529 plans, Coverdell accounts and other school savings, one row per plan |
| Health | HSAs, one row per plan |
| Property | Your home and other real estate |
| Other Assets | Anything else you own, such as a car |
To move an account to a different tab, open Settings, then Accounts, select the account and change its type or sub-type.
Open a section on your favorite tab
Hover over a tab and select the pin beside its name. Investments now opens on that tab instead of the Overview. Select the pin again to unpin it. Transactions and Cash Flow have pins too.
