Investments, organized by what the money is for
A new Overview, Retirement, Education and Health tabs, and one holdings table that adds up to your dashboard.

Most people do not think about their investments as a list of tickers. They think about them as money for retirement, money for a child’s school, money for health costs, and money they invest on their own. This update rebuilds the Investments section around that idea.
An Overview that starts with the big picture
Investments now opens on an Overview. It shows:
- Your total investments and how much they changed over the period you pick.
- How much of that sits in taxable, pre-tax and tax-free accounts.
- What your money is invested in: a donut of stocks, bonds, cash and the rest.
- A Performance chart you can draw by type, by tax treatment or as one total.
- Every account, grouped by what it is for. You can reorder the groups and collapse the ones you do not need.
The total on the Overview is the same total your dashboard shows. Every figure in the section now comes from one place, so the numbers agree wherever you look.
A tab for each kind of account
Next to Stocks & Funds, three new tabs hold your plans: Retirement for a 401(k), an IRA or a Roth IRA, Education for a 529 plan or a Coverdell account, and Health for an HSA.
Each tab works like Stocks & Funds: a Performance chart at the top and a table below, one row per plan. Expand a plan to see the funds inside it, or compare plans on the chart.
When you add an account by hand, you choose its type and then its sub-type, for example Retirement, then Roth IRA. Paiso uses that to place it in the right tab and to know its tax treatment. On the Advanced plan, Paiso fills both in from your institution, and you can still change them.
Leave a plan out of net worth
Open a plan to leave it out of your net worth, for example a child’s 529 plan that you do not count as your own money. It still counts in Investments.

Live prices for connected accounts
On the Advanced plan, Paiso imports your shares and cost basis from your brokerage, and now values them at live market prices instead of the price your institution last reported. Your day change and your gain move with the market during the day.
An employer stock plan from your brokerage shows as its ticker, priced live, at the balance your institution reports. If you enter your share count, Paiso values the plan from your shares instead.
Hide a row, or leave it out of net worth
Every holding, plan and account drawer has two new checkboxes:
- Hide from table takes a row out of the table while still counting it in your totals. Select Show hidden to see those rows again.
- Exclude from net worth leaves the item out of your net worth on the dashboard and the Portfolio page. It still counts in Investments, and the summary line says how much of your total is excluded.
Open each section where you want
Hover over a tab in Investments, Transactions or Budgeting and select the pin. That section now opens on the tab you pinned.
Available on every plan
The Overview and every new tab are part of Basic and Advanced. On Basic, you keep your plans up to date by hand: enter the tickers you hold, and an Other funds amount for anything without a ticker. On Advanced, Paiso imports them for you. See the Investments page to try the holdings table without an account.
